The environmental design major of the College of art and design, formerly the environmental art design direction under the art design major founded in 1995, became an independent major in 2012, with two directions of interior design and landscape design. In 2013, the Department of environmental design was officially established after the adjustment of department structure.

Professional orientation

Professional orientation: based in South China, serve the industry, radiate relevant industries, and actively provide talent guarantee for local economic construction, social, cultural and educational development.

Training objectives: this major aims to cultivate applied talents with all-round development of morality, intelligence, physique and beauty, basic theoretical knowledge of environmental design, design practice ability and innovative spirit, comprehensive quality in science, engineering technology and Humanities and arts, and able to engage in design, marketing, management, teaching and scientific research in environmental design and related fields.

Based on the engineering practice, this major has formed a teaching system composed of two modules of interior design and landscape design, as well as a teaching mode paying equal attention to theory and practice. In teaching, we pay attention to the training of students' professional quality and practical ability, form the talent training concept of "deep foundation, emphasis on specialty and wide field" in teaching and learning, rely on the advantages of our electronic information discipline, and make full use of modern information technology means for education and teaching.
